EDGE OF THE EARTH

The ancient fishing village of Teriberka is located beyond the Arctic Circle on the shores of the Barents Sea. First mentioned in the XVI century. Now there are no existing enterprises, the problem of unemployment is acute. The number of inhabitants is falling every year, people from emergency houses are being resettled, so there are many abandoned houses in the village. Often, because of strong snowstorms, the village is cut off from civilization, which makes it difficult to deliver essential goods. Teriberka gained world fame after the release of the film «Leviathan» by Andrei Zvyagintsev. Tourists are attracted by the beauty of the arctic nature and the romance of destruction. With increasing popularity, the village infrastructure is gradually being restored. But despite signs of improvement, the village is not going through the best of times.
